About Us
Network Info
The Potato Radio Network hosts contemporary radio stations which provide programming with an interesting and cool style to cater for the tastes of our target demographic.
Our motto is "The Freshest Hits, More Often" and when we say that we mean it, our programming allows for more of the latest music without repeating all the older songs that are worn out!
We also love to throw in some of the classic hits you don't hear much anymore.
The Potato Radio Network was broadcast through 98.7 Whiplash FM! Toowoomba, 102.9 Whiplash FM! Roma, however, we are now online only.
Our target demographic is for people 18 to 31 years of age.
No Ads Policy
Since The Potato Radio Network was formed in 2004, we decided that ads were a big no no! On average that allows us to fit approximately 17 songs per hour. Most commercial stations are lucky to fit 12! It truly is a sound for sore ears!
History
The Potato Radio Network was conceived during the days of boredom at school. Around the middle of 2004 the idea for Whiplash FM! was founded thanks to the brilliant minds of Alex Miller and Curtley Whip. Unfortunately money was scarce until early 2006 when enough funds were saved to allow the purchase of a transmitter thanks to P.C.S. Electronics in Slovenia. The first station was 98.7 Whiplash FM Toowoomba which provided content for a small boarding school towards the south west of Toowoomba, which covered a population of approximately 400 people. Our next addition to the network was the Roma Whiplash FM! which unfortunately was not able to use the same frequency as Toowoomba due to interference with local television stations. Finally, the latest addition to the network is in Sydney, where we have teamed up with some locals to provide content which satisfies the taste of alternative fans. As the years go by we hope to have an extensive range of transmitting sites as we become the competitor to the largest radio network in Australia so stay tuned! (No pun intended)
